Abstract

Some jockey for power in the political arena; others seek to change the world by accumulating wealth. Still others believe in the ability of intellectual persuasion to improve the human condition. While some good can be propagated through each of these means, history has shown that Christians have had the most influence when they have relied primarily on the power of the gospel to change lives and transform society. That does not mean, of course, that faith should be considered relevant only to the matters of the heart, but ultimately the power to establish a more just society will require that we become new creations through the power of Christ. This message remains the primary mandate of the Great Commission and the motivating urgency of this Journal.
