- Role Conflict and Countertransference in the Pastor-Counselor
- Abstract
The diverse responsibilities of the pastoral ministry place a great emotional demand on ministers. The conflict between the aggressive roles of preaching and administration and the more passive role of counseling is one of these frustrations. This article delineates several common emotions that hinder the pastor's ministry and suggests guidelines for overcoming their potentially destructive influences.
