Title
Language as Change Agent: Metaphor in the Work of Jay Haley and in the Parables of Jesus
Abstract

The use of metaphor provides the focus for this article. First, Haley'€™s work with metaphoric language in therapy is discussed and exemplified. Secondly, the parables of Jesus are explored to highlight this mode of communication. Finally, several patterns found in both Haley'€™s therapy and Jesus€' parables are presented to illustrate possible ways metaphor can inform the Christian therapist'€™s work.
