Title
Guilt: Its Universal Hidden Presence
Abstract

This article, the second in a series of four, develops the proposition that the emotion of guilt is to some degree involved in the etiology of all psychological maladjustments. A discussion of the Genesis record of the origin of guilt is followed by a discussion of the major defensive processes utilized to deny and distort the subjective experience of guilt. The psychological and theological implications of the failure to recognize the extent of guilt's involvement in the problem of adjustment are then considered.
