Title
Demon Possession or Psychopathology?: A Clinical Differentiation
Abstract

This paper focuses on the distinction between demon possession and mental pathology in response to the phenomenon of increasing occultism in our culture and the sometimes inaccurate judgements of well-meaning Christians. Beginning with a brief discussion of demonology and witchcraft in Western culture, the author continues in presentation of biblical perspective. The heart and remainder of the treatise deals with the legitimate question, "Is mental illness demon possession?" The contrast and distinction between the two is shown in light of demonic reaction of Jesus, the separate personality, rational nature and object-relatedness of demons, and the difference in cure.
